In the first half of 2022, my country’s lithium-ion battery industry has achieved rapid growth, led by the carbon neutrality goal of carbon peak and driven by strong downstream demand. According to industry standard announcements of enterprise information and industry associations, the national lithium-ion battery output in the first half of the year exceeded 280GWh, a year-on-year increase of 150%, and the industry’s revenue exceeded 480 billion yuan.
In terms of lithium-ion batteries, the output of energy storage batteries reached 32GWh in the first half of the year, and the installed capacity of power batteries for new energy vehicles was about 110GWh. Exports of lithium-ion battery products increased by 75% year on year.
In the first-order material segment, in the first half of the year, the output of cathode materials, anode materials, diaphragms, and electrolytes reached 730,000 tons, 550,000 tons, 5.6 billion square meters, and 340,000 tons respectively, with a year-on-year increase of more than 55%.
In the second-order material segment, the output of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide in the first half of the year reached 150,000 tons and 102,000 tons respectively, an increase of 34% and 25% year-on-year respectively. The prices of battery-grade lithium carbonate and battery-grade lithium hydroxide (micro powder grade) fluctuated at a high level. The average prices in the first half of the year were 445,000 yuan/ton and 432,000 yuan/ton respectively.
